President’s Report
Greetings
society members. As the year winds down I’d like to report on a few changes within
the club. Firstly Bek has resigned as club secretary and website coordinator and in the
interim Aleks has stepped into the breech as acting secretary until the annual general
meeting. Nominations for this position will be taken closer to the AGM. Andrew Tostevin
has taken up the role of website coordinator. Both are very enthusiastic about their new
roles so keep a look out for the changing website.
On Sunday the
5th of October Aleks led a group of Five vehicles to the Collingrove vintage
car hill climb. We all had a super day watching MG’s, Jaguars and Rovers pushed to
the limit, and some competitors pushed beyond and spending most the day with their car in
pieces. Our Land Rovers in the car park created quite a bit of interest. Thanks go out to
the sporting car club for putting on the event.
On a personal
level I have finally managed this year after four years to complete my Brockhouse replica
trailer. This was a project that although I knew wouldn’t be simple I had no idea
what it would really entail. However I have, at last, what I believe is the perfect
accessory for any Land Rover. Achieving this goal has given me a great deal of
satisfaction along with a greater understanding of 1940’s engineering. Our last
meeting for this year will be the Christmas BBQ which will include a technical talk about
electrics from Alister.
